Château de Courcelles

Why not indulge in a weekend of gracious living at the Relais & Châteaux hotel in Courcelles-sur-Vesle, just 1 hr from Paris, between Soissons and Reims? This late 17th century château stands in grounds of 23 hectares with formal French and English style gardens, a maze of arbours and an ornamental lake based on an original at the palace of Versailles. Rooms and suites have all been renovated whilst retaining period features. Gourmet cuisine and fine wines  are served in the restaurant. A number of sports facilities are available: heated outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, mountain biking. Gentler exercise may be had just strolling in the forest.

Domaine du Château de Barive

The château de Barive is a former hunting lodge, converted to a hotel, on a wooded estate of 500 hectares, 1 hr 45 min. from Paris and 40 min. from Reims. Its tastefully restored restaurant, Les Epicuriens’ is the responsibility of young chef Franck Dumoulin and serves innovative gourmet food. Facilities available to guests include covered, heated swimming pool, solarium, sauna, spa and fitness centre offering Californian massage. Nearby are the medieval city of Laon, the Thiérache fortified churches tourist route and the Champagne vineyards.

Château de Breuil

Steeped in history, the Chateau de Breuil welcomes you in the footsteps of Arsene  Houssaye. famous writer of the last century, born in 1814 in Bruyères not far away from Laon. It marks the time of his works in various genres. Zola could say about him : "his long life was a gay party, he had the cult of the eternal feminine (...) it is the expression of the French kind, the liveliest and loveliest surely the joy of the spirit ". 

The 4 rooms are lovely decorated and the gastronomic restaurant with fresh products is amazing.
